Born: 12 December 2001 | Birthplace: White City, London, England | Height: 5’11” (180 cm) | Position: Right Winger | Club: Bayern Munich | Nationality: France
On 8 September 2026, the Ballon d’Or announced its 30-man shortlist, and Michael Olise’s name was on it. On 2 October — the day before this report — Transfermarkt raised his valuation to €180 million, the highest figure ever attached to a Bundesliga player, hours before he bent a free kick in off the crossbar against Italy in Zinedine Zidane’s first home match as France coach. In between sit a Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal double, a second straight league title, the Bundesliga Player of the Season award, a Champions League Team of the Season place — and a 2026 World Cup in which he registered seven assists in seven matches, breaking a record Pelé had held since 1970. By any measure, the quiet winger from White City is now one of the five or six most valuable footballers alive.
His cardboard tells a very different story, because the hobby met him almost entirely after the fact. Olise made his professional debut for Reading on 12 March 2019, at seventeen, in an EFL Championship that had no licensed card or sticker product of any kind — the EFL’s licensing gap ran roughly twenty years, and Panini’s first-ever EFL collection did not arrive until 2025-26. Sixty-seven Reading appearances, a Championship Young Player of the Season award and a PFA Championship Team of the Year selection produced not one licensed collectible. His window only opened when Crystal Palace triggered an £8 million release clause in July 2021 and Panini’s Premier League machine finally had license to print him.
What that machine produced is a single season of supply: twelve licensed releases, every one of them Panini, every one of them in Crystal Palace colours. Nine of the twelve carry serial numbers, and together they add up to 3,542 numbered copies and 22 one-of-ones — with not a single autograph or relic anywhere in the window. No certified Olise autograph existed anywhere until March 2025, nearly six years after his debut, and Panini never signed him at all. This report catalogues the complete window, every set and every print run, in order of real release date.
Why Collectors Are Watching
For a player of his stature, the supply is surprisingly low. A Ballon d’Or nominee, back-to-back German champion and the record-holder for assists at a single World Cup has a complete rookie-window supply of 121 serial-numbered versions totalling 3,542 copies, with 22 one-of-ones — all printed in one Premier League season, 2021-22, before anyone outside Selhurst Park was paying attention. That places his window between Arda Güler’s 3,054 and Gabriel Magalhães’s 4,023 in the closed, pre-Topps-era Premier League band this site has mapped — and at less than a twelfth of the modern standard set by Lamine Yamal’s 42,771. The structure is just as stark as the number: zero rookie autographs, zero relics, zero national-team cards (his France debut came three years after the window closed), and a Reading chapter with literally nothing to collect. Panini’s Premier League license died in June 2025, which makes his Prizm, Mosaic and Score rookies artifacts of a closed line. The window shut in 2022 and cannot react to anything he has done since — not the Bayern move, not the double, not the Pelé record, not the Ballon d’Or shortlist.
The Cards
Card #1 — 2021-22 Panini Adrenalyn XL Premier League #132

Set: Panini Adrenalyn XL Premier League 2022
Type: Card-game card, Crystal Palace — the true first collectible
Serial Numbered: No
Release: 5 August 2021 (UK & Ireland)
Card Notes: Four weeks after Crystal Palace activated his release clause, Michael Olise’s first licensed collectible hit UK shops: base card #132 in the Palace block (#118–135) of Panini’s Premier League card game, printed before he had kicked a competitive ball for the club. It is his only version in the product — no Limited Edition, no foil subset — and it arrived a full six months before any card of him carried a serial number. For a player whose entire Reading career fell inside the EFL’s twenty-year licensing void, this unnumbered playground card is where the catalogue begins.
Two and a half years of professional football produced nothing; a transfer produced a card in four weeks. The first Michael Olise collectible cost pennies in a foil packet, and most of the copies went to schoolchildren.
Card #2 — Panini Premier League 2022 Stickers #207 & #342

Set: Panini Premier League 2022 Official Sticker Collection
Type: Album stickers, Crystal Palace — club sticker #207 and Next Gen Stars #342
Serial Numbered: No
Release: 30 December 2021 (launch event 29 December; full national rollout through January 2022)
Card Notes: Panini’s 636-sticker Premier League album — the collection that broke Panini UK sales records that winter — gave Olise two slots: #207 on the Crystal Palace club pages and #342 in the Next Gen Stars subset, where he sits alongside Carney Chukwuemeka, Harvey Elliott and the rest of the league’s teenage class. Being selected for Next Gen Stars in December 2021, when he had barely a dozen Palace appearances, is the first documented instance of the hobby treating him as a prospect rather than a squad filler. The #342 sticker is neighbour-verified from dealer lists; the club-page #207 rests on TCDB’s record — worth a visual check before publishing.
The album that sold out across Britain carried the first printed hint that Olise was different: a Next Gen Stars slot, awarded off a handful of substitute appearances. The market has still not caught up with that scouting call.
Card #3 — 2021-22 Panini Score Premier League #177 — the first serial numbers

Set: 2021-22 Panini Score Premier League
Type: Base rookie card, Crystal Palace — his first pack card, first serial-numbered versions and first one-of-ones
Serial Numbered: Yes (base unnumbered; 13 numbered parallels across the Lava and Lasers ladders)
Release: 15 February 2022
Card Notes: The serial-numbered era of Michael Olise opens not in a hobby box but in Score, Panini’s entry-level retail line — card #177, in packs from mid-February 2022. The Lava ladder (retail) and Lasers ladder (fat packs) each descend to a Black 1/1, giving him his first two one-of-ones in the same product. He is base-only: not in Score Signatures, not in any insert. Three days later the high-end Immaculate arrived (Card #5), which means his first serial number and his scarcest early card were printed in the same week at opposite ends of the market.

The first serial-numbered Michael Olise cards came out of £1 retail packs, not hobby boxes. A Ballon d’Or nominee’s numbered era began with an Orange Lava /99 pulled next to the supermarket till.
Card #4 — 2021-22 Panini Adrenalyn XL Premier League Plus #127

Set: Panini Adrenalyn XL Premier League Plus 2022
Type: Card-game card, Crystal Palace — standalone mid-season expansion
Serial Numbered: No
Release: 17 February 2022
Card Notes: Panini’s 369-card mid-season expansion of the Adrenalyn line repeated the trick: Olise at #127 in the Palace block, base only, no Limited Edition, no premium subset. It is a footnote card — but it completes the picture of a window in which the UK playground products printed him twice before the US hobby machine printed him once.
Two Adrenalyn cards, two sticker slots, and still not one serial number to his name — in the same month his first hobby cards were already at the printers.
Card #5 — 2021 Panini Immaculate Collection #118 — the scarcest first

Set: 2021 Panini Immaculate Collection Soccer
Type: Base rookie card, Crystal Palace — RC designation; every copy serial-numbered
Serial Numbered: Yes (all copies — base /80 through Platinum 1/1)
Release: 18 February 2022
Card Notes: Three days after Score, Panini’s super-premium Immaculate Collection — a product that costs hundreds of dollars for a box of a few cards — included Olise at #118 in its Premier League base section. The set carries a “2021” label on the box but released on 18 February 2022, squarely inside the same product cycle; TCDB files it under its own “2021” tab, which is a catalogue label, not an earlier release. Olise appears in the base checklist only — no autograph, no memorabilia — and every copy is numbered, from the /80 base to the Platinum 1/1. At 173 total copies, it is his smallest-supply card number of the entire window, and the closest thing he has to a National Treasures-style connoisseur’s rookie.

One hundred and seventy-three copies, all numbered, in a product built for autographs — and his slot carries no ink, because no Olise autograph deal existed. Immaculate printed the rookie and skipped the signature, and no Panini product ever got one.
Card #6 — 2021-22 Panini Prizm Premier League #296 — the hobby rookie card

Set: 2021-22 Panini Prizm Premier League
Type: Base rookie card, Crystal Palace — the market’s Michael Olise rookie card
Serial Numbered: Yes (base unnumbered; 26 numbered parallels, plus ~20 unnumbered Prizms)
Release: 9 March 2022 (hobby, confirmed by Panini America’s own release announcement; Choice boxes followed 27 July 2022)
Card Notes: This is the card the market means when it says “Olise rookie”: Prizm Premier League #296, in Palace red and blue, from the flagship hobby product of Panini’s PL license. One detail serious collectors should know — there is no RC logo printed on the card. Prizm Premier League never used the rookie shield, and at least one major catalogue formally lists the card as “Rookie Card: No”; the hobby treats it as his rookie by convention, not designation. The rainbow is the deepest of his window at 26 numbered parallels and roughly twenty unnumbered Prizms across hobby, Breakaway, Choice, H2 and retail configurations, and several of the print runs are nonstandard, card-specific values (Blue /340, Red Mojo /159, Red Stars /28, Choice Red /29, Choice Green /9) — 2021-22 Prizm PL is known for odd per-card runs, and these were verified across TCDB and set checklists in two passes. With 1,460 numbered copies, this one card number carries 41 percent of his entire numbered supply, plus five of his 22 one-of-ones.

Forty-one percent of every numbered Olise rookie lives on this card number — and the card itself never claimed to be a rookie. The Gold Power 1/1 rests on TCDB and one checklist source; if it proves phantom, the grand total moves by exactly one copy.
Card #7 — 2021-22 Panini Mosaic Premier League #136

Set: 2021-22 Panini Mosaic Premier League
Type: Base rookie card, Crystal Palace — RC designation; plus the unnumbered Overdrive case-hit insert
Serial Numbered: Yes (base unnumbered; 10 numbered parallels)
Release: 25 May 2022
Card Notes: Mosaic gave Olise his second full hobby rainbow — base #136 with ten numbered parallels topping out at two 1/1s (Mosaic Black and Choice Nebula) — and his only insert appearance of the entire window: the unnumbered Overdrive case hit, his single non-base card in any 2021-22 product. Sources disagree on whether Overdrive is card #14 or #136; it is unnumbered either way and does not affect the totals. Note that several Mosaic parallels that are numbered in other Panini products (Choice Peacock, Reactive colours, Pulsars, Genesis) show no serial number on any checklist for this product — they are counted as unnumbered here.

One unnumbered case-hit insert is the entire “chase” output of his rookie window beyond base parallels. Panini printed a future Ballon d’Or nominee for a full season and never once built an insert set around him.
Card #8 — 2021-22 Panini Revolution Premier League #268

Set: 2021-22 Panini Revolution Premier League
Type: Base rookie card (Rookies section), Crystal Palace
Serial Numbered: Yes (base unnumbered; 4 numbered parallels — no 1/1 exists)
Release: late May / early June 2022 (exact street date undocumented)
Card Notes: Revolution’s psychedelic card stock gave Olise his shallowest numbered ladder: Cosmic /40 down to Lava /10, with seven unnumbered parallels around it and — unusually — no one-of-one anywhere, because base Revolution’s floor is /10 and the product’s only 1/1s live on autograph cards he was never given. He is base-only here too: the Showstoppers and Futures inserts passed him over for Conor Gallagher, the loanee who out-shone him at Selhurst Park that season and whose cards now trade at a fraction of his.

Exactly one hundred numbered copies and nothing rarer — the only set of his window with no one-of-one at all. The Lava /10 is the whole ceiling.
Card #9 — 2021-22 Panini Obsidian #189

Set: 2021-22 Panini Obsidian Soccer
Type: Base rookie card, Crystal Palace — every copy serial-numbered
Serial Numbered: Yes (all copies — base /105 through Electric Etch Blue Finite 1/1)
Release: 15 June 2022
Card Notes: Obsidian ran as a multi-league product in 2021-22, mixing Premier League clubs with European sides and national teams on its black-void card stock, and Olise’s #189 is one of only two all-numbered card numbers in his window (with Impeccable). The Electric Etch ladder descends through twelve tiers of nonstandard runs — the /26 Red Pulsar, /12 Neon Blue Flood and /3 Neon Green Flood are classic Obsidian oddities — to the Blue Finite 1/1. No autograph, no memorabilia version exists.

All 267 copies numbered, thirteen tiers deep, on the blackest card stock Panini makes — and it still took the market four more years to notice who was on it.
Card #10 — 2021-22 Panini Chronicles — Certified #146, Prizm Premier League #220, XR #139

Set: 2021-22 Panini Chronicles Soccer (La Liga · Premier League · Serie A)
Type: Three base rookie cards across the Certified, Prizm and XR sub-brands, Crystal Palace
Serial Numbered: Yes (all three unnumbered in base; 19 numbered parallels combined)
Release: 29 June 2022
Card Notes: Chronicles stuffed fourteen Panini sub-brands into one product, and Olise landed in exactly three of them — Certified #146, a second Prizm design at #220, and XR #139 — while eleven other sub-brands, including the product’s only Premier League rookie-autograph set (Contenders Optic Rookie Ticket), passed him over. Each of the three carries its own parallel ladder to a 1/1. One caution for list-readers: aggregate Chronicles checklists routinely misfile his cards into Absolute, Illusions or Spectra; the three cards above were neighbour-verified against per-subset checklists, and nothing else exists.

Three designs, three 1/1s, one box. Chronicles is the quiet volume play of the window — 431 numbered copies spread so thin across sub-brands that no single Olise card from it feels common.
Card #11 — 2021-22 Panini Impeccable Premier League #50 & Rookie Metal #15

Set: 2021-22 Panini Impeccable Premier League
Type: Base rookie card #50 plus Rookie Metal insert #15, Crystal Palace — every copy of both serial-numbered
Serial Numbered: Yes (all copies — base /55 and Rookie Metal /65 down to 1/1s)
Release: 29 July 2022
Card Notes: Panini’s metal-slab high-end line closed out the pure-PL portion of the window with Olise’s densest concentration of rarity: base #50 at /55 with eight parallels and four printing plates, and the 20-card Rookie Metal insert at #15 — his only numbered insert of the entire window — at /65 with Ruby /13, Gold /10 and a Black 1/1. Six of his 22 one-of-ones live in this single product, more than any other. As everywhere else in the window: no autograph, no relic. The printing plates are counted as 1/1s in the totals, per this site’s standard.

The Ruby and Gold /2 is the rarest numbered Olise card that is not a one-of-one — two copies, in a product most Palace fans never knew existed. Impeccable holds more of his 1/1s than any other set in the window.
Card #12 — 2021-22 Panini Donruss Elite Premier League #184 — the window closer

Set: 2021-22 Panini Donruss Elite Premier League
Type: Rookies-section base card, Crystal Palace
Serial Numbered: Yes (base unnumbered; 13 numbered parallels counted, plus the die-cut Aspirations and Status versions whose variable runs are unpublished)
Release: 21 December 2022 (sources split between late December 2022 and January 2023 — a 2021-22-branded product that shipped six months late)
Card Notes: The strangest release of the window: a 2021-22-branded product that reached shelves as the 2022 World Cup was being played. Donruss Elite PL carries Olise at #184 in its Rookies section, with a retail ladder and a fat-pack Fireworks ladder each running to a Black 1/1. Two further parallels — the die-cut Aspirations and Status — are serial-numbered to variable runs of “/99 or less” that Panini never published; they are real numbered cards, but with no stated run they are not counted in the totals, which makes the grand total a floor. Per this site’s season-label rule (the same one applied to Kenan Yildiz’s September-released “2022-23” Chrome and Warren Zaïre-Emery’s March-released “2022-23” Chrome PSG), the card belongs to the 2021-22 rookie cycle it is branded and checklisted for, and it closes the window.

The window closes with an accounting asterisk: two die-cut parallels numbered to runs Panini never disclosed. Whatever their true count, it is small — and it means 3,542 is a floor, not a ceiling.
Understanding the Rookie Timeline
Olise’s timeline splits into a void and a sprint. The void is the Reading era: thirty months of professional football in a league with no licensed collectibles partner at all — the EFL’s gap ran roughly two decades, and its first Panini collection arrived only in 2025-26, four years after he left. The sprint is everything else: once Crystal Palace signed him in July 2021, Panini’s Premier League engine produced his entire licensed rookie record inside a single product cycle — playground cards in August, stickers at Christmas, the first serial numbers in a February week that spanned both ends of the market, the flagship Prizm in March, and the long tail of hobby releases through the year. Note what is absent: Topps never had license to print him (Palace played no UEFA competition and the Topps PL line did not yet exist), France products came three years too late, and no product anywhere got an autograph.

| Post-window: first France cards — 2024-25 UEFA-cycle and Les Bleus products, after his September 2024 international debut | from late 2024 |
The rookie window under this site’s rule runs from his professional debut (12 March 2019) to the end of the first product cycle carrying a serial-numbered card — the 2021-22 Premier League cycle, which opened with Adrenalyn XL in August 2021 and closed with the late-shipping Donruss Elite in December 2022. The 2022-23 products that followed carry his most RC-labelled cards and his first inserts, but they are the next cycle and this report does not count them. Collectors should also know that the market’s shorthand card — Prizm PL #296 — carries no RC logo at all; if a printed rookie designation matters to you, the Score, Mosaic and Elite cards of this window are where checklists apply the tag, and the card fronts are worth checking before paying a premium for the label.

Collector Insight
Olise’s window is the cleanest demonstration this series has produced of a structural truth: supply is set by licensing calendars, not by talent. His first thirty months as a professional happened inside the EFL’s licensing void — a league of 72 clubs with no sticker album, no card product, nothing, for roughly twenty years — so a Championship Young Player of the Season simply has no cards from the seasons that made him. Then one transfer moved him into the only fully licensed season of his early career, and the entire rookie record was printed in sixteen months by a single company. Panini’s machine treated him as what he then was, a promising squad player on a mid-table club: base cards in nine products, one case-hit insert, one numbered insert, no autograph deal, no relics. When the serial numbers are added up, a Ballon d’Or nominee’s complete rookie supply is 3,542 copies — printed between a Score retail pack and a late-shipping Donruss Elite box, every copy in Crystal Palace colours.
The comparison set frames how unusual that is for a player of this stature. His 3,542 sits in the closed pre-Topps-era Premier League band between Arda Güler (3,054) and Gabriel Magalhães (4,023), above only Rice (1,657), Bruno Guimarães (1,988) and the micro-windows — and below every modern teenage star this site has catalogued, most by an order of magnitude: Yamal at 42,771, Ngumoha at 44,933, Dowman at 26,481, all printed before those players had done a fraction of what Olise has already done. The structure compounds the scarcity. There is no rookie autograph to chase, because none exists; his first certified ink (Topps Bayern Team Set, March 2025, 31 total signed copies across three tiers) came six years after his debut, and Panini — the company that printed his entire window — never signed him at all. There is no national-team rookie, because France capped him three years after the window shut. And the license that printed him is dead: Panini’s Premier League deal ended in June 2025, making Prizm PL, Mosaic PL and Score PL closed lines that will never add a card.
The market has not priced any of this in. No documented sale of a single Olise window 1/1 exists in the public record; his base Prizm #296 trades in the single digits raw, and the hobby press that covered his €180 million Transfermarkt record and his Pelé-breaking World Cup did not produce one article about his cards. Compare the attention economy around any 40,000-copy teenager and the asymmetry is stark: the player ranked among the world’s most valuable has one of the quietest rookie markets of any Ballon d’Or nominee. Windows like this tend to stay asleep until a single event — a Ballon d’Or podium, a record transfer, a World Cup final — sends new money looking for the rookie card, and new money will find 26 numbered Prizm parallels, not 260. The supply side of that equation was settled in 2022. Only the demand side is still moving.
Final Thoughts
Two and a half years of professional football with nothing to collect, then one Premier League season that had to carry an entire rookie record: twelve releases, nine with serial numbers, one insert, no autograph, no relic, every card in the same shirt. The player went on to Bayern, to France, to a World Cup record and a Ballon d’Or shortlist; the cardboard stayed exactly where 2022 left it. His total rookie numbered cards: 3,542 | One-of-Ones: 22. That supply does not grow. It stays at 3,542 forever.
